Stella Batts: A Case of the Meanies is now available!

Stella Batts is a new series for independent readers. Stella is an eight-year-old who loves to write and who’s family owns a candy store called Batts Confections. Together, the books in the series make up her autobiography. Much of the action is about typical things that eight-year-old girls experience, like a best friend moving, not liking her name or dealing with the class bully. Why It’s Fun I first discovered this series at the annual Book Expo in New York this spring. The cover art instantly captured my attention, and when I read that the series is about a girl who’s family owns a candy store, I couldn’t resist! The first two books were as delightful as I’d hoped. (There are four books in all.) The characters are great, the story line is easy to follow and the vocabulary age-appropriate. Who It’s For This series is great for kids about second grade and older. My fifth grader enjoyed them too! What To Be Aware Of Parents will be happy to know that the language is very clean, unlike some series targeted at this age group. I didn’t come across any words I wouldn’t want my own children to say! Visit Time to Play Mag for the full article.
