UXL®'s goal is to make comprehensive reference books at a reading
level of the average seventh grader, focusing on the curriculum topics
they study in school and presenting that information in an attractive,
inviting way. UXL® gives students everything they need in order to
complete homework assignments, write research papers or just read for
recreation. UXL®'s slogan is, "Serving the Reference Needs of
Students."
UXL®'s titles are concentrated in five major curriculum areas: science
and medicine; history and social sciences; nation and world; multicultural
studies; and a catchall of arts and performing arts, sports, careers and
other topics kids find interesting. In general, we produce five types
of books: Encyclopedias; Biographies; Almanacs; Chronologies; and Primary
Source/Voices volumes. Through the different types of books, we offer
a number of different ways to explore a particular subject.
